1045 cases were settled in the National Lok Adalat

NATIONAL LOK ADALAT ORGANIZED IN DISTRICT RUPNAGAR

As per the directions of National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi and Punjab State Legal Services Authority, S.A.S Nagar Mohali, the National Lok Adalat was organized on 13.05.2023 at various courts of District Rupnagar under the able supervision of Smt. Ramesh Kumari, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, Rupnagar. In the National Lok Adalat organized on Saturday, a total of 3871 cases were listed, out of which 1045 cases were disposed of and Awards amounting to Rs. 9 Crore were passed.

While interacting with media, Sh. Sham Lal, Ld. Additional District & Sessions Judge, Rupnagar informed that a total of 7 benches of National Lok Adalat were organized at District Courts Rupnagar including Sub Divisions Sri Anandpur Sahib and Nangal. In addition Revenue Benches were also organized in the District. He further informed that cases of various categories i.e. Civil, Criminal Compoundable Cases, Cases U/s 138 NI Act, Bank Recovery Cases, Land Acquisition Cases, Injunction Matters, Matrimonial Disputes, Electricity and Water Bills and Traffic Challans were taken up for hearing. In addition to this, Pre-Litigative Cases were also taken up. While mutation cases were disposed of by the Revenue Benches. It was further informed by Ms. Himanshi Galhotra, CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Rupnagar that Lok Adalat has always remained the best way for amicable resolution of disputes. Entire court fees paid by the parties is refunded, in case the matter is settled in Lok Adalat and the Award passed by bench of Lok Adalat has a seal of finality. She further informed that the Court of Sh. B.S Ramana, Principal Magistrate Family Court, Rupnagar settled one Civil suit bearing no. 26 of 2019. By the efforts of the Ld. Court, petitioner Gagandeep Kaur received settlement amount of Rs. 9 Lakh from respondent Bahadur Singh. Similarly, a matrimonial case titled as Kulwinder Kaur versus Satnam Singh, the dispute was amicably resolved and both the parties become ready to reside together again. She further apprised that the next National Lok Adalat is to be organized on 09.09.2023 and appealed the masses to take maximum benefit of upcoming National Lok Adalat. The general public attending the Lok Adalat also applauded the success rates and benefits of these Lok Adalats.
