Man convicted & sentenced for life imprisonment in the POCSO Act.

Rupnagar, December 15: A person from Village Chatoli Kalan, District Rupnagar sentenced for life imprisonment for committing rape on two children who were less than 12 years.

The victims were returning home on 10.05.2023 from school when the convict allured them to give money and took them to isolated place in the area of old factory near cremation ground Chatoli Kalan, District Rupnagar.

The police presented the challan in the Court on 31.05.2023. Agreeing with the contention of learned State Counsel, I Ms. Ramesh Kumari, District & Sessions Judge, Rupnagar, today i.e. 15.12.2023, held him guilty and convicted him under Sections 377 IPC and Section 6 of POCSO Act and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

He was also directed to pay fine of Rs.35,000/- each to both the minor victims.
