Rupnagar, 23 November: As per the guidelines issued by Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, Mohali and under the able guidance of Smt. Ramesh Kumari, Ld. District & Sessions Judge, Rupnagar, DLSA, Rupnagar today organized a special sensitisation program consisting seminars, skits followed by the special rally against drugs at Bibi Sharan Kaur Khalsa College, Sri Chamkaur Sahib. On the said occasion Smt. Himanshi Galhotra, CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Rupnagar flagged of the rally. On the occasion Principal Sh. Jagroop Singh and SMO Sri Chamkaur Sahib Sh. Gobind Tandon along with Sh Ashish Kumar Assistant LADC advocate at DLSA Rupnagar remained present. All the students of the college along with NSS Cadets participated in the rally which started form the college and culminating on the main road of Sri Chamkaur Sahib spreading the message of “Say No To Drugs. Before the rally, the special sensitization programme the NSS volunteer students performed special Nukad Play depicting the ill effects of drugs on youth. Also special address on the topic of drug abuse was also delivered by advocate Sh. Ashish Kumar . CJM Secretary , DLSA, Rupnagar also addressed the youth and appealed them to spread a word of saying no to drugs . She motivated students to treat drug addicts as a patients and help to undergo treatment at de-addiction centres. She appealed students to participate in the campaign and to encourage others as well . Interacting with media, Smt. Himanshi Galhotra, CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Rupnagar informed that the special campaign was launched in District Rupnagar on 01.10.2023 under which till date many OOAT Clinics, Schools, Colleges and Blocks have been covered where youth has been sensitized about ill effects of drugs. Regular counseling sessions are undertaken by the health department. Drugs which have far reaching consequences not only affect physical health but also emotional and mental health of the addict and his societal and financial status is affected . The same is glaring problem of Punjab which has affected the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. The special campaign has the objective to sensitize the youth and appeal and motivate them to leave drugs and lead a life of a responsible citizen. She also informed that the special campaign shall continue in District Rupnagar till 31.10.2023 in association with all other departments of the District.
