District Magistrate Sonali Giri fixes rates for private ambulances to transport COVID patients to hospitals

District Magistrate Mrs. Sonali Giri has fixed the rates of private ambulances for transporting patients suffering from COVID-19 disease to the hospitals.

Disclosing this in a press communique released here today Mrs. Sonali Giri said that patients suffering from COVID-19 disease were rushed to hospitals by ambulances for treatment. She said that there have been complaints against private ambulance owners of overcharging. She said that therefore, it was necessary to fix the rates of private ambulances. She said that a committee was constituted to fix the rates of private ambulances. As per the recommendation given by the committee on 20-05-2021 and keeping in view the proposal of Regional Transport Authority, SAS Nagar and public interest, the rates of ambulances for district Rupnagar have been fixed.

Disclosing further she said that now for Ambulance Without Oxygen, Fixed maximum rate per trip upto 25 Km will be Rs.1000, per Km rate after 25 Km will be Rs. 10 and waiting charge per hour after half an hour will be Rs. 100 per hour. Likewise For Ambulance With Oxygen facility, Fixed maximum rate per trip upto 25 Km will be Rs.1500, per Km rate after 25 Km will be Rs. 12 and waiting charge per hour after half an hour will be Rs. 150 per hour. Similarly For Ambulance With Ventilator facility, fixed maximum rate per trip upto 25 Km will be Rs.3000, per Km rate after 25 Km will be Rs. 15 and waiting charge per hour after half an hour will be Rs. 250 per hour.

The District Magistrate said that strict action would be taken against the owners and drivers of the ambulances charging more than the above rates, according to which the driving license of the ambulance driver would be revoked. Ambulance registration certificate would be revoked. The ambulance would be impounded and legal action will be taken against the erring driver.
