Rupnagar, June 21: District Administration Rupnagar in association with Ayurvedic and Unani Department celebrated the 8th International Yoga Day at the Open Air Theater of Government College Rupnagar.

On the occasion of this Yoga Day dedicated to the 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahautsav, around 1000-1200 participants practiced yoga together. Various yoga asanas were conducted under the guidance of Dr Virender Singh.The yoga camp started after the online address of the Hon’able Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.On the occasion of this Yoga Day, Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Dr. Preeti Yadav, who was the chief guest, said in her address that we should do yoga daily to make our life healthy and prosperous so that we can live with a healthy body and mind. The Deputy Commissioner himself did yoga asanas in this yoga camp. On this occasion Addl Deputy Commissioner General Rupnagar Dr. Nidhi Kumud Baba Additional and SDM Sardar Jasveer Singh also shared their views.

Apart from the district administration, officers and employees of various departments, DAV Public School, Khalsa Sr Sec School, Gandhi Sr Sec School, Genius International Public School, Government College, Rupnagar, Divyangajan School, Government Nursing College, Students of the NCC Academy, Guru Ravidas Sabha Rupnagar, Sri Guru Ravidas Sports Club Nangal Abiana, Bharti Yoga Sansthan, Patanjali Yoga Peeth, Atam Jeevan Kalyan Mandal, Animal Husbandry Society, SS Jain Sabha, Shri Atma Ram Jain Sabha, Bajwa Health Group, Brahmakumari Ashram Rupnagar, Peddlers & Runners, District Youth Club Coordinating Committee Rupnagar, Team of Kranti Kala Manch Rupnagar, Unique & Family Club, Shiva Youth Club Ghazipur, Rotary Club Rupnagar, Senior Citizens, People Members of Bhalai Seva Club and Shri Narseva Narayan Seva Sanstha also joined the camp for yoga practice.At the end of the yoga camp, the forest department of Rupnagar honored the personalities of various organizations by distributing saplings. Posters of Yoga Awareness Asanas were also distributed to the students participating in the Yoga Camp. The forum was moderated by Mr. Yogesh Mohan Pankaj and Member BOG Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan.The program concluded with the singing of the national anthem.
