ADC (General) Reviews Procurement Arrangements in Rupnagar
Rupnagar, October 10: Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Pooja Segal Grewal has conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing paddy procurement operations for the Kharif Marketing Season 2025-26.
During the meeting, the District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSC), District Managers of all procurement agencies, and the District Mandi Officer, Ropar received firm directions to ensure smooth, timely procurement, lifting of produce, and prompt payment to farmers.
District Mandi Officer was also specifically instructed to ensure strict checking of paddy arrivals so that only properly dried paddy is permitted in the mandis.
As of 09 October 2025, the district has recorded an arrival of 28,167 metric tonnes of paddy, with 28,118 MT already procured, including 27,714 MT by government agencies and 404 MT by traders. The day’s arrival was 3,922 MT, and the day’s procurement reached 3,915 MT (Government: 3,704 MT, Traders: 211 MT). 20,603 MT of paddy has been lifted so far, with 3,153 MT lifted during the day. Payment of ₹61.68 crorehas already been released to farmers, which is 108% of the amount currently due (₹57.36 crore).
State Government remains steadfast in its commitment to procure every grain of paddy as per specifications at the designated centres. To support hassle-free lifting and speedy payments, farmers are strongly appealed to bring only dried paddy to the mandis. This measure helps avoid inconvenience or delays and ensures a smooth experience for all farmers.
Strict enforcement at all procurement centres will continue to uphold quality standards and safeguard farmers’ interests.
