ADGP Law & Order Arpit Shukla inspects checkpoints in Rupnagar under Operation Eagle

about 424 checkpoints & nearly 300 patrolling teams deployed at different places under Operation
Rupnagar, January 21: ADGP Law and Order Mr. Arpit Shukla on Saturday visited Bela Chowk Ropar & Morinda Bus Stand and examined various checkpoints in view of ‘Operation Eagle’ conducted in Punjab.
While giving information on this occasion, Mr. Arpit Shukla said that on directives of DGP Punjab Mr. Gaurav Yadav, around 424 checkpoints have been made at different places and 300 patrolling teams are deployed under Operation Eagle across Punjab. He said that in this operation, all high level police officers with IG rank officers have been going to different checkpoints and inspecting it at grass root level.
He further informed that 50 grams of heroin (chitta) and an illegal pistol of 315 bore with one live cartridge have also been recovered from Onkar Singh, an associate of gangster Dilpreet Baba, from Nurpurbedi at checkpoint under this operation. After which a case has been registered against the accused.
ADGP said that the aim of this operation is to create a comfortable environment for the common people and to build up constructive faith among the people. At the same time this campaign is being conducted to track down and control the mischievous elements so that criminal minded and anti-social elements should not commit any untoward incident.
Speaking about arrangements beind made for January 26, Mr. Shukla said that the Punjab Police has been performing their duty with full diligence so that this Republic day can be celebrated with full pomp and harmony.
He also said that strict action will be taken against those buying and selling China Door.
SSP, Rupnagar Mr. Vivek S. Soni said that ADGP Mr. Arpit Shukla himself came to Rupnagar to review the security arrangements and checkpoints and he visited the police checkpost near Bela Chowk and various other checkposts in district Rupnagar.
He said that various kite shops in the city are being searched keeping the festival of Basant Panchami in mind and raids are also being conducted on other suspicious locations of door sellers and warehouses with kites.
On this occasion DSP S. Tarlochan Singh, DSP Navneet Singh and other police officers were also present.
