District Legal Services Authority, Rupnagar organized a Walkathon dedicated to World Environment Day
Today, District Legal Services Authority, Rupnagar organized a walkathon on the occasion of World Environment Day. World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5. The special objective of this year’s Environment Day is to reduce the deforestation. This walkathon was organized under the stewardship of Mrs. Ramesh Kumari, Hon’ble District and Sessions Judge, Rupnagar. This rally was flagged of from Shivalik Public School by Mr. Sham Lal, Additional District and Sessions Judge. Mrs. Monica Goyal, ADJ-cum-Principal Judge Family Court, Mr. Mohit Bansal, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mrs. Pratima Arora, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mr. Pushpinder Singh, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mrs. Amandeep Kaur, Secretary, DLSA, Mr. Jagmeet Singh, JMIC, Mrs. Joshica Sood, JMIC, Ms. Kamini, JMIC, Ms. Ananya Rishi, JMIC, Ms. Manisha, JMIC, Mr. Arvind Meena Superintendent of Police (H), Mrs. Pooja Syal, Additional Deputy Commissioner were present in this rally. Mr. Harpreet Singh Kang, President Bar Association along with other lawyers of the Bar, Mr. Rajbir Singh Rai, Chief LADC, Mr. Ashish Kumar, Assistant LADC, Rupnagar, District Forest Officer, students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School and Shivalik Public School, Mr. Baljit Singh Attri Principal Shivalik School, Mr. Vaneet Verma and Mr. Arun Kumar- Teachers of Shivalik School, Mr. Sandeep Kaur Principal Government Girls School, Rajinder Kaur and Sukhjinder Singh- Teachers of Government Girls School, all the staff of District Legal Services Authority and other people of the district participated enthusiastically. The rally started by the children of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Rupnagar by playing a band. The rally started from Shivalik School and passed through Bachat Chowk, Bela Chowk and then in front of the court complex and ended at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Park. Saplings were planted by the Hon’ble Judges in Maharaja Ranjit Singh Park. Apart from this, the other officers also planted saplings in the park and gave a message to everyone to plant more trees. Addressing the rally, Mr. Sham Lal Ld. Additional District & Sessions Judge appealed to keep the environment clean. Mrs. Amandeep Kaur, CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Rupnagar said that organizing this special rally is an effort to make people aware of climate change, global warming, deforestation and loss of biodiversity and importance of trees.
