Rupnagar, September 20: To ensure treatment services to patients suffering from drug addiction, Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Himanshu Jain on Friday conducted a surprise visit at de-addiction center set up in civil hospital.

On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the treatment services provided to the admitted patients at the Drug De-addiction Center and he encouraged the patients to live a healthy and happy life after giving up drugs.

Giving assurance to the patients, he said that after completing the treatment, the district administration will provide full assistance to the drug addicts to get a job, so that the youth should resolutely give up drugs completely.

Mr. Himanshu Jain further got detailed information regarding procedure of treatment from Psychiatrist Kanwarbir Singh Gill. He advised the De-addiction Center, to intensify the sessions of yoga, spirituality, exercise, etc. to strengthen the self-confidence and will power of drug addicts.

On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner while talking to the media said that with the aim of providing better health services to the residents of the district, he also inspected the Dialysis Unit, mother child Hospital, and the General Ward and instructed the medical and paramedical staff to diligently attend the patients.

Mr. Himanshu Jain further said that the highest priority of the Punjab government is the health department and he discussed with the patients and doctors and whatever is needed in the government hospital will be provided by the government.

In order to provide nutritious and quality food to the common people during festival season, he said that the food safety department will take samples of food products. After which the shops will be rated on the basis of cleanliness.
