District and Sessions Judge Rupnagar inspects District Jail
Rupnagar, August 31: A surprise visit was made to the District Jail Rupnagar today by Mrs. Ramesh Kumari District and Sessions Judge, Rupnagar along with Himanshi Galhotra, CJM cum Secretary DLSA to take stock of the facilities and other jail arrangements provided by the jail administration to the prisoners and under-trials.
Sukhwinder Singh Chief Judicial Magistrate and Seema Agnihotri Civil Judge Junior Division Rupnagar also accompanied the Sessions Judge along with other judicial staff.
The Sessions Judge inspected the barracks, jail hospital and langar hall. She addressed the grievances of the jail inmates and passed instructions for prompt redressal of grievances.
She took a stock of medical facilities and camps organised in the jail. Inmates in high security zone expressed gratitude for arrangement of special Dental Camp by DLSA Rupnagar.
She also examined the records of the Legal Aid Clinic in the District Jail, through which free legal aid is provided to the prisoners and directed the Jail Visiting lawyers and Jail Para legal volunteers to ensure that no needy prisoner should is deprived of free legal aid.
She informed that such visits will continue in the future to solve the problems faced by the prisoners and under-trial prisoners and to keep the jail administration in order as per the rules. Deputy Superintendent Jails Anil Bhandari remained present during the visit.
